I'll work backwards...
One more week of this blessed vacation time we have had. My DH and I work at an international boarding school in Malaysia where we are dormparents to 14 7th-12th graders. It is a lot of fun, but a lot of work. One of the biggest perks of the job is the LONG vacations we get, both at Christmas and during the summer. So, we've been off since the middle of December and it has been WONDERFUL. It has been so great to spend QUALITY time together as a family, as a couple, and even alone. But reality sets in soon and a week from right now our students will be arriving back again. We LOVE our students and look forward to their return, but I'm not so sure how much I miss 80 hours weeks and cafeteria food. Also, I'm looking at the clock right now ant it says it is almost 10 pm and I am thinking, "What the heck am I doing up so late?" HA! 10:00 pm would be a DREAM during the semester. NEVER happens. CAN'T HAPPEN, except maybe on our day off but then that is the ONE NIGHT that Jason and I get to be alone without our kids, without the dorm kids. So, we tend to stay up. Oh well, once the baby arrives sleep will be a distant memory anyway.
Okay, so I had an awesome half an hour alone today. Caleb and I slept in and didn't go to Church so when Jason and Alaina got back it was time for me to get cleaned up. So, rather than a shower, I took a nice long bath, lit my yummy cranberry candles, had DH put on some soothing music for me (I chose Enya), turned out all the lights and RELAXED! Well, I relaxed after about 15 minutes. In those first 15 minutes I was too busy dealing with Alex the cat who seemed to think it was fun to stick his paw in the running water and dealing with Alaina, who came in, saw my bath, and said in her most sincere voice, "Mommy, I am SOOOOOO dirty!" (read: Mommy, I want to take a bath with you.) Luckily for me, she likes luke-warm to cold baths and I like my water HOT, HOT, HOT and the tub was already filled. So, at least I talked her out of wanting to get in with me. Then, when the bath idea didn't work out for her, she said urgently, "Mommy, I HAVE to go potty." "Alaina, I'm all wet. Get Daddy to help you go in YOUR bathroom" (how lucky is she -- a two year old with her own bathroom!) "But Mommy, I want to use yours." Ahhhh, gotta love being needed. So anyway, after the cat and potty episodes, Dh was gracious enough to get EVERYONE out of the bathroom and the bedroom and let me soak in my nice steamy tub which by this time was working its way to luke-warm. But it was still nice. My sciatic nerve has been acting up lately (all three of my lil' cherubs have chosen to sit on this nerve during most of their time in the womb) so it was good to try to work out some of the tension.
And finally, a new layout. Papers by Jen Wilson's Comfy Jammies paper pack, jeweled element and stitching from her Butterfly Haven elements pack.
This is a picture my DH took of our little girl. He asked her to go to her room to start packing for the ONE NIGHT she was going to be gone and when he came in, he saw her suitcase overflowing. She packed at least 4 outfits, 6 pairs of jammies, and at least 6 diapers (which she only wears during the night.) HA! At least Jason is getting good at recognizing scrapping moments and got the camera out. I am training him well.
