...I hope everyone is having a stupendous weekend. Ours has been good. Busy, but good. yesterday morning was our senior tea. It is a time when the seniors and their parents gather together with the staff for a brunch buffet. The seniors have the opportunity to introduce their parents to the staff and other students, which is really great for our dorm students. Most of them only see their parents a few times a year, so it is a really special time.
Then last night was the spring fine arts concert -- band, choir, and visual arts. I was so proud of all my kids. Some amazing talent there.
This morning was baccalaureate. I missed a bunch of it because Levi needed changing. I asked Jason where the diaper bag was. He told me it was on the stroller. So, I left the banquet hall but couldn't find the stroller. So I go back in and find the stroller there in the back. No diaper bag. So, I leave again and try to go up to the nursery where Alaina and Caleb are to see if it got left there. I had to wait TEN minutes for the elevator. TEN MINUTES! It was ridiculous. And I was not about to climb 13 flights of stairs with a fussy baby in my arms. So, i finally make it up to the nursery but still, no diaper bag. Back down I go to interrupt the service once again. I go back to my seat and as calmly as I can (while still letting my annoyance be very visible) I ask Jason where the diaper bag is. He said he didn't know. I looked under his chair and there it was. I could have killed him. So, I had to leave the banquet hall ONCE AGAIN. Just let me say that I hate rude people who int erupt services by their going out and coming in and talking and cell phones beeping and watch alarms chiming. And here I was, the once causing all the disturbance. So I left to go change Levi. Now since this is Asia, there are no changing tables in the bathrooms. So, I had to change him on a rattan chair in the open air foyer. Lovely, I tell you. After that I didn't dare go back inside so I stayed out and chatted to another mom who was out with her fussy baby. Ah, the joys of motherhood!
Tonight we had a time for our dorm students to get together to say goodbye to the seniors. It was really good and a bit emotional. It is just so exciting, though, to see this group of 14 students from nine different countries come together as a real family. Dorm brothers and sisters who love each other. It was a really special time. Then, to balance out the weepiness, everyone went around campus taking crazy pictures and pushing each other in the pool. Then we ordered a bunch of pizzas and just had a good time.
Okay, one Cabe story for you just in case you hadn't quite grasped what a BOY he is. He was running outside as usual and fell. Now normally when he falls he gets back up, brushes himself off, laughs, and then goes again. But this time I heard crying so I knew he was really hurt. Jason ran out there and saw that Caleb had stubbed his toe really bad. Caleb was screaming. They came in and Jason tried to clean out his toe and stop the bleeding. Jason asked if he should take the piece of skin off and disgusted as I was, I just said to put the band-aid on over it. Well, Caleb just screamed and screamed so Jason took the band-aid off. So what did Caleb do? He reached for his toe, grabbed the piece of skin, RIPPED it off, and then he stopped crying. Everything was find and dandy in the world of Caleb again. I really, really don't get boys!
Okay, I had a little scrapping time this weekend. Jason and I have decided to not stress out too much about packing until the dorm leaves on Thursday. It is just too hard to take care of the dorm, attend all the graduation events, take care of our little ones, and try to pack all at the same time. It just stresses me out too much. So, I had a bit of computer time at night after the kids went to bed.
I've been in kind of a weird mood so my first two LO's are a little different for me. When I talk to people about photoshop I often tell them to just play around with it to see what it can do. So, I took some of my own advice and played around with tools I don't use much and using tools/elements in new ways. So, here you go:
Black paper, grunge edge, cardboard, and clip by Gina Cabrera at DDE. Patterned paper and staple by Shabby Princess (pp from the Compassion kit, staple from Shabby Tea Party). Paint brush strokes by Meredith Fenwick at SBB. Tag, zipper, twill, and stitching my own.
I had fun with this one. I picked up Michelle Coleman's FLOURISH BRUSHES at Scrapartist and just had to play with them. I used the brushes to cut out the photo so that the swirls would mimic and bring out the deep colors of the photo. Kit is TREASURED by Mindy Teresawa at SSD. I also finished up another big project this weekend but I can't show you yet. It's a gift for someone but I haven't given it to her yet and I don't want her to see it here, first. I hope to get it done and given tomorrow so hopefully I can show it off then.

Janet, it's Wednesday night there right now and I'm thinking of you as you prepare to say good-bye to your kids. I hope you don't have to stay awake all night long, but I do know you won't get much sleep. I'll be praying for your emotions :-( as I know how hard it is. love ya!
