So, this is how I have been spending my time lately. Deep in the depths of potty progress. We had pretty much decided to just work on training Levi, knowing that when Caleb was good and ready he would let us know. Levi really enjoys potty time because potty=books. He loves to sit and read and have me read to him so he is happy to sit there. He also has a new fascination of s.t.r.i.p.p.i.n.g and sitting on the potty and then insisting on new clothes, new diaper/u.n.d.e.r.w.e.a.r, new everything. And all in all, he has actually only gone on the potty ONCE.
Yesterday, though, Caleb was out of pull-ups, so we told him that we would just have to wear u.n.d.e.r.w.e.a.r. We expected him to fall apart (any mention of him using the potty or wearing u.n.d.e.r.w.e.a.r has brought sheer terror to him in the past) but he simply said, "okay." So he sat on the potty and said he would just wait. And wait he did. He just sat there. We kept telling him he could get up and play and when he felt it coming he could run to the potty. But nope, he just kept saying he would wait. He sat there for TWO HOURS and then finally, he went. We were all jumping and clapping and hugging him. He went and got the airplane he knew would be his once he went and played for a bit. Then, he decided he wanted to sit down and "wait" again. Another TWO HOURS. He wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, wouldn't play. He just kept saying, "No, I wait!" Poor kid. Eventually Alaina comes in and tells Caleb she found a pull-up and he hopped off the potty just as quick as can be. But now this morning, he has decided that he will "wait" again. I hope he soon realizes that being potty trained does NOT mean sitting on the toilet all day!
I wish I had more to share, but seriously, the above pictures how how I spent almost my entire yesterday. Caleb insists he needs "help" which means I have to be sitting next to him the whole time and on occasion giving him the "hugs and tickles" he orders.
Ah...the joys of parenting.
You're a good mommy, Janet:)

OMGosh, Janet! I am ROLLING at the idea that your son spent FOUR HOURS on the pot yesterday! Feed that boy some prunes or something, girl; get it moving. ;)

What a sweet story! I only HOPE my little guy will wait for that long. If he continues the way he is now, he has no time to sit down on a potty. Good luck!
