Back when I was a little kid, Christmas Eve was one of the best and worst days of the year. It was the best because I knew that the next morning was going to be amazing -- stockings filled to the brim, presents galore, and lots of really yummy food. But, the bad part was, all the anticipation of the above mentioned things kept me from sleeping. I would toss and turn for hours thinking about everything the next day would entail.
And that is how I felt last night. As I get ready to launch the new site, and think of all I still need to do before tomorrow and all the things I want to do over the course of the next few months I cannot sleep. I just get jittery and excited and my head is spinning with ideas (and a few worries ;) Last night I just tossed and turned for a good part of the night and was glad when it was finally 4:30 am so I could get up (yes, this is my normal waking time).
Things are going good...I am SO THANKFUL for so many people encouraging me, telling me that a site like this is just what they need, that they "get" it and the heart behind it. It makes the long hours and the computer glitches totally worth it!
Okay, back to work for a bit before I take the rest of the day off to hang out with my family and some friends. We are going to enjoy a walk to a waterfall, some yummy chicken sate, and chatting about some of the things we love best!
The site will probably go live around 7:00 am EST on the first (since that will be approximately the normal posting time). But, if things are ready before that, I might satisfy some peoples curiosity earlier.
Good luck with the new site Janet! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us. And Happy New Year!

BTW, I'm so glad you've finally managed to get reliable internet at home. I hope that will make your new venture go smoothly. :)

wow. janet. so i read up on you...don't know why i didn't know these things in the past.
what we have in common...my husband's parents - his dad dutch/indonesian. his mom dutch. actually his dad's family used to be somewhat upper crust royalty until the war. his father's family then immigrated to Holland - met his mother and then they immigrated to U.S. - California.
His whole family - when we used to get together would primarily cook Indonesian food (as dutch food is pretty bland). His father makes awesome nasi goreng and bami goreng...not to mention satay. yum.
And, then I thought you might be military - but lo and behold you guys are working in a Christian school. That is awesome. But, it makes me worry. Apparently being a Christian in Indonesia isn't the greatest thing.
I can't wait to see what your site holds. Happy New Year - blessings to you and yours

Please don't have any issues about your new web site. You have a ton of people cheering for you. You have been one of the endearing and enduring parts of the digi scrap world. You have proven that you have something to offer and so much to share including your faith. Good luck!

I just found your blog today...and so very interesting as I am Indonesian American currently living in the Netherlands and like you, I have been ex-pat for the last 4 years, first in Japan and now in Europe. I was in Indonesia 3 years ago for a few weeks as it was the first time in 30 years since i was there last. My mom is from Bandung and I was born in Surabaia...it was fun to see your photos and read your stories. So reminescent of my stay in Japan and also in some ways here in Europe (although it's much easier!!!). I'll bookmark your blog...
