We've survived our first day of homeschooling...and we're excited for more! We were supposed to start tomorrow (the 9th) but due to a dentist appointment that had to be changed. I knew the kids would be devastated if we pushed it to Tuesday, so we decided Saturday was the day. In the end, I am glad for the change -- it gave Jason a chance to be with us and see what our days will look like.
Overall, the day went great. We will be up for changing/tweaking our schedule but we want to give things time to see what works and what doesn't work. I was pleasantly surprised that Levi (our three year old) was eager to stay the whole time. I figured after story time he would bolt out the door to go play. But the love of being with his siblings kept him going strong and so I had to make some extra runs to the photocopier for activities for him. It was a great day and I am looking forward to the journey we are on. Here is a glimpse of our day:
Three sweet kids ready for their first day (and oh how they love that they can bring toys to school!)
Their true personalities coming out
Some globe trotting twister to learn about different continents
One day down...a whole lot to go. Can't wait!
I love their name plates!! I need to do that for Miss Kendall so she can learn to write her WHOLE name better. So glad that you are enjoying homeschool so far. It can be very rewarding. When I first started I was AMAZED at how much my kids already knew and how fast they learned new things. Enjoy it! :)

I so admire and applaud you for doing this and I can only imagine all the benefits it will reap. Like you said in one of your earlier posts on this subject, homeschooling is not for everyone, well, that would be me. I have always thought it to be neat and fullfilling and I have friends that homeschool as well and admire them all, but it doesn't fit in with our family life. Thankfully, we have a great public school district here and my kids have had some awesome teachers and so I feel really blessed for that. I love what your doing so far and look forward to the progress of it all. I just wanted to send praise your way!
