I know I am about a week late in posting this, but hey, better late than never, right?
Last January, after completing my first year of Project 365, I wrote a post about my feelings and suggestions about the project. I re-read the post today and really have nothing new to add. I finished my second year with the same happy results and the same confidence in my goals. I have never set out for this to be a showcase of photographic skill...for that I would take and choose different photos. Instead, I do this to capture the every day moments of our lives...the moments that I would surely forget if I didn't preserve them now. As I look through another year of memories, I am so thankful to have captured moments like my kids jumping on hotel beds, the bead I pulled out of Levi's nose, the books that changed me, the yummy food we ate, the day Alaina learned to Google, crazy things about living in Asia, life changing moments, moments days I would rather forget, creativity at its finest, special celebrations, anticipation, and more.
And so I start another year, full of hope and excitement for the precious moments that will be preserved. And after realizing that I only appeared in nine photos all of last year (one of which was just my ankle), I have vowed to stop hiding and let myself be seen. I don't like pictures of myself, but I desperately want my kids to know I was a part of their life, not just the person documenting it. And for the record, Jason appeared in over 30 photos, the boys were both in around 80, the girls in 90, food was showcased in over 40 photos, and my proudest accomplishment...all four kids were in 27 photos!
And now for my favorite twenty photos from A PHOTO A DAY 2010 (there was no way I could narrow it down to ten). These are twenty photos that, if I were to lose them, I think I would cry.
In chronological order...
I just adore this photo...my sweet girl in her batik shirt and henna tatoo. I love that my kids are growing up in Asia!
This photo just makes me laugh. How many kids can devour meat on a stick like this?? Katie still loves her sate ayam!
This photo, which hangs as a HUGE canvas on our wall, reminds me of where we live. The rice paddies, the mountains, the beauty. LOVE it.
An amazing birthday party for my amazing seven year old
My sweet and loveable twenty pound ankle weight
Me and my boys. I never had any clue how much I would LOVE being a mother to boys!
A reminder of all of the fun and amazing things we do as a family
One of those moments where I just think, "WOW! I have four AMAZING kids and I hope they have the most AMAZING childhood ever!"
A beautiful reminder of our trip to India...a place we all love so much!
A photo that could represent many, many others. My four year old is, I believe, allergic to clothes and would prefer that he never have to get dressed.
Another classic Levi photo that portays his personality so well!
My sweet, sweet Caleb who loves his baby kitties more than life itself.
Our sweet dog that I miss so much
It's so easy to forget how blessed we are, and how that blessing is supposed to be poured out onto others
Every family needs to laugh and have fun together
The greatest Christmas gift I could ever ask for
Can't wait to see what 2011 holds!
You inspired me to do a Project 365 in 2010, Janet, and I've loved it! Thank you for the inspiration!

Janet, those are great photos! You are indeed blessed. I just finished my first year of P365 and couldn't be more pleased about it. It's my visual journal. I just finished my cover page and am waiting for a sale (!) to upload my layouts to get printed into a book. I've started 2011 already and am excited to see what God has in store for this year.

Yea! So excited to see your photos again! I have missed them so much! They are what inspired me to start in the first place!

Oooh! What happened to Maggie?
Posted by: Christin | January 09, 2011 at 02:59 PM
We had to give her away. Our new house has walls that she can jump over and she was causing trouble in the neighbors yard. It was sad, but there was really nothing else we could do.

The key to buying sunglasses in todays world should consist of two major considerations: health issues and fashion. Purchasing new sunglasses for reasons that dont pacify both of those issues is like throwing money out of the window, since you will not use those sunglasses as much as you should, or would if they met both criteria. Trust me on this. Oakley Sunglasses OutletIn todays world, even celebrities, newscasters, and sportscasters choose sunglasses based on both of these criteria.
From a health perspective, you need to get sunglasses that are healthy. That means that the tint and the polarized glass must not trade the distortion of color and decreased contrast for less visual clarity. To be useful as well as functional, good sunglasses need to shield your eyes from the brightness via shading or reduced contrast, but must not overly reduce visual clarity in the process, this is not an equal tradeoff.
From another health perspective, it has been known for Oakley Sunglasses Cheapmany years that consistent exposure to the suns UV rays can be harmful. Your sunglasses should protect you from those UV rays via the polarized lenses, as well as a more recently discovered danger known as HEVL or High Energy Visible Light.
Both of these issues are particularly important for people who depend on visual clarity to do what they must do or need to do, perhaps as part of their job or as a part of a recreational activity. Think about the airline pilot whose eyes may be in sunlight for the entire duration of a flight. Think about the truck driver who may be driving west late in the day, Discount Oakley Sunglassesand looking into the sun for the majority of his travels. Think about the recreational skier or snow-boarder who is addition to the normal hazards of sunlight is also faced with the additional hazard of snow blindness where the bright sunlight is reflected off the white snow that he is surrounded by. All of these types of people know how important it is to adequately protect your eyes, and this importance is not decreased even if you do not spend as much time in sunlight as they do.
Studies have also shown that when you are using your eyes constantly as part of a concentrated effort to what you are doing, such as when driving in heavy traffic or skiing, it takes a tremendous amount of energy from your body to keep processing the massive amounts of information that your eyes are sending to your brain.Oakley Sunglasses Outlet For this reason also, good sunglasses will allow your eyes to do their job better without using more energy that you need to.
From a fashion standpoint, choosing sunglasses that are good for you does not mean that the sunglasses need to look like the glasses equivalent of orthopedic shoes, not at all. Sunglasses that meet the protection and health criteria above are readily available from the major fashion sunglasses and designer sunglasses manufacturers, including designers such as Oakley, Serengetti, RayBan, Maui Jim, Wiley, Bolle and more. Oakley Sunglasses OutletIn fact, some of the higher-end choices you have in these designer sunglasses also have additional features such as built-in Bluetooth so that you can use your MP3 player or your cell phone without taking off your sunglasses.
Finally, make sure the sunglasses are comfortable. With all the choices you have available to you, comfort needs to be a major part of the equation, and it not an area where you need to scrimp or sacrifice.
